Downpipe V-band Mitsubishi Evo 7-9 76mm(3") diameter
What we've done
I just finished builing the first downpipe V-band for Mitsubishi Evo 7-9 entirely made in 76mm(3″) material. Not only I helped a customer increasing his car perfomances, but I also helped him keep an important creature confort in his car: A/C,
To obtain this result I had to use “pie-cuts” for the first part. They’re not off the shelf pie-cuts everybody can buy, I make them myself.
I won’t hide you the fact that, at the beginning, it wasn’ easy to do. It required a jig and some accurate math calculations. I’m pleased with the result of this first piece, also because it’s been a solution for a single customer problem, but it will be a solution for every MitsuEvo owner because it’ll end up real soon on our online shop.
How it's made
The downpipe is obviously entirely TIG welded and the welds are backpurged from the inside to ensure weld quality and avoid sugaring inside the tubes that might lead to failure down the road and even to serious damate to the turbocharger and the engine. As you can see great care has been taked to avoid overheating the material, which is not only especially important to preserve the mechanical and corrosion resistant property of the AISI 304 Stainless Steel material, but also gives that “rainbowy” color look everybody is likes in the welded areas.
